I'm trying out this very interesting program/server called ShoutCast (downloaded here) and I now have my own streaming radio server up on my computer! So, if I'm on, and you are on, you can listen to it!

I will have a site which will grant easier access, but for now, simply visit my blog (http://alexius.buildtolearn.net) and click LISTEN under the shoutcast tab on the left-hand side of the page.

My streaming radio name is currently GUESS THAT TUNE! but I will be changing it to AlexOnDemand, soon.

So, if anyone also puts up their own streaming radio server, post in here!

Unfortunately for you monkeys, you require a cooler media player than you already have in order to listen to this - at least to my knowledge.

Actually, I think any player will do, but WinAMP is the most compatible. I am currently broadcasting at 128kbs, so the sound quality is up there. Because of that, I am only limiting it to 9 listeners, and I'm not even sure how that will hold up.

It worked finer for iTunes if you exclude the buffering my crappy connection caused.

Yes, it appears iTunes supports ShoutCAST, but Windows Media Player does not. I applaud Apple in this case.

It automatically opened iTunes in the case of OS X, no installation of anything necessary beyond clicking the link.
