Well, in Canadian History I'm doing a research paper on the Avro Arrow and I think this would be a good place for me to get thoughts and opinions I could contribute to the paper.
I'm sure you all know what the Avro Arrow was, so I hope to get some good arguments from this Thread.

I kindly ask that you post why you think it should/shouldn't have been scrapped. The purpose of this thread is to gather opinions, not only statistics of the group.

Personally, I think that scrapping the project in the way the Diefenbaker government did was extremely stupid. If they wanted to cancel the project due to a KGB spy, or due to political pressure from the US, they could have at least left the blueprints and prototypes intact, thus maintaining a piece of Canadian history.

Unfortunately, the time of the interceptor was up, and they really didn't have much choice but to cancel the Arrow. They were, however, extremely irresponsible in how they dealt with the cancellation, especially after all the money that they had already spent on the project.

Well, one opinion is good, but I'd like others.
